Today, it’s harder than ever for fans to secure affordable tickets to live events.

Following the 2010 Live Nation-Ticketmaster merger, the Ticketmaster conglomerate has control over an estimated 70% of the live event ticketing market (Ticketmaster says it’s only up to 60%). Today, fans face limited choices and high prices when trying to purchase tickets. This lack of competition not only restricts market practices but also negatively impacts how we all experience the music, sports, and entertainment events that enrich our lives.

But something can be done. The Department of Justice is reportedly investigating Ticketmaster. We need to let policymakers know that they have our support. You can help make that happen by contacting your members of Congress to demand the Department of Justice to take swift action.

We need our lawmakers to play a role in helping fans secure tickets through a fair system by demanding action.

Dear [Lawmaker],

I am writing to ask you to add your voice to the growing coalition of fans and elected officials who are calling to break up Ticketmaster. I am sure you know of the recent Senate judiciary hearing in which committee members on both sides of the aisle called Ticketmaster a monopoly.

With control of over an estimated 70% of the live event ticketing market, Ticketmaster’s impact on the live event ticketing industry can’t be overstated (even if Ticketmaster says it's only up to 60%). It's time to start putting control back in the hands of fans.

The Department of Justice is reportedly already looking into Ticketmaster, but to be successful in showing public support to break them up, we need everyone to speak out.

That’s why I’m writing - to urge you to speak out against Ticketmaster and take action to break them up.

Ticketmaster has had a devastating impact on fans across America who are already struggling with rising costs and financial challenges. It’s time for Congress to uphold the principles of fairness and competition by doing something about it.
